In part I of the book Dr. Simon explores the underlying belief systems, emotional and psychological issues that hold most people back from losing the extra pounds they know they should lose. Dr. Simon takes you through specific exercises and visualizations to help you personally identify the psychological factors that are preventing you from adapting a more health-promoting way of life. He offers solutions to these obstacles that he has found to be successful with many of his overweight and obese patients over the years.

In part II of the book Dr. Meschino explains the essential aspects of nutrition, exercise, and supplements required for the achievement of lifelong fitness, disease prevention and boy-fat reduction.
 
His chapter, entitled "Turn your body into a fat burning machine" describes the weight-loss strategies he uses with his own patients to change their internal metabolism to burn up excess body fat more efficiently.

Noted cookbook author Rose Reisman provides a recipe section.

Break The Weight-Loss Barrier is an updated version of The Winning Weigh-Seven Step to Healthier Living, but takes a much deeper look at the psychology of weight loss.
 
This book reads more like a diet book whereas The Winning Weigh provides more of a total wellness foundation.
